Honorable Senator/Congressman XXXXX XXXXXX:

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family!

As you may know, regional peace and stability in Asia is gravely disturbed
as a result of Japan’s provocative “purchase” of China’s Diaoyu Islands,
which were snatched away from China after the 1894 Sino-Japanese War. This
provocative action by the Japan government is a direct challenge of the post-
WWII world order and the United States and China, which endured enormous
sacrifices but made enormous contribution to the victory of WWII, must be
alert to the rising right-wing forces in Japan to prevent a resurrection
of the Japanese militarism which will bring another disaster to Asia and
the world, including the United States.

As Chinese Americans, we are happy to see the continued peaceful development
across the Taiwan Straits. We firmly support our government’s commitment
to One-China policy and the U.S. stance in encouraging improved relations
across the Taiwan Straits.

We are also happy to see the good efforts and outcome from the strategic
dialogue between the United States and China in past years. We strongly
believe that it is in the best national interest of the United States to
maintain and develop friendly relations with China, particularly during the
new term of the Presidency of both countries.

We Chinese Americans appreciate your support for China’s eventual peaceful
reunification, and for the promotion of a healthy and friendly U.S.-Sino
relationship. And wish you a magnificent success in the coming New Year
of 2013.

Sincerely yours,
