We, on behalf of the Chinese Communities in the eight greater metropolitan
regions in US, cordially extend our best wishes to you and your family for the
upcoming holiday season. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for
your efforts in maintaining a healthy and friendly relationship between the
United States and China, which we believe is very important to the two great
countries in terms of global prosperity and regional stability and peace as
well.
We are seriously concerned with the regional stability and peace in Eastern
China Sea. In 2012, the Japanese government unilaterally altered the status quo
by its “purchase” of China’s Diaoyu Islands, which were snatched away from
China after the 1894 Sino-Japanese War. This provocation by Japan, followed by
other aggregative policies and actions by Japanese PM Abe, is in violation of
the Cairo Declaration and constitutes an open defiance of the post-WWII world
order. Both the United States and China, who made enormous contributions to the
victory of WWII, should be highly alert to the rising right-wing forces in Japan
to prevent a resurrection of the Japanese militarism which will inevitably bring
another disaster to Asia and the world, including the United States. Those who
play with fire will get burned. We should not forget easily the pain from the
Pearl Harbor so quickly.
We Chinese Americans are very much pleased for a continued peaceful development
of cross-Strait relations in China because we have no doubt that it is
beneficial not only to the people on both sides of the Taiwan strait, but also
it is in line with the best national interest of the United States. We urge
again the U.S. government not to sell any weapons to Taiwan because it will only
encourage the separatism and possibly increase the crisis across the Taiwan
Strait.
We seek your support in China’s eventual peaceful reunification with Taiwan, in
preventing the rise of the Japanese militarism, and in promoting a healthy and
friendly U.S.-Sino relationship. We hope we can count on you, just as you can
count on us Chinese-Americans.

一年一度的聖誕新年節慶期將臨﹐全美中國和平統一促進會聯合會聯合日前給美國
國會議員發出了節日的賀信賀卡﹐恭賀新年節日快樂。全美統促會聯合會由全美國
八個大都會地區的17個團體會員組成﹐實行年會和會務執行輪值制。該新年節日賀

我們謹代表全美八個大都會地區的華人社區向您致以誠摯的即將來臨的節日祝賀。
我們也借此機會感謝您在維護一個健康友好的中美關係中所做的努力。這種良好關
係對兩個偉大的國家﹐對世界繁榮穩定和世界和平都是至關重要的。
我們非常關注中國東海地區的和平和穩定。2012年日本政府通過他的所謂“購買釣
魚島”單方面地改變了地區局勢。眾所週知﹐釣魚島是1894年的中日戰爭中被日方
掠奪。日本政府的這種挑釁以及日本首相安倍近來一系列的對中國的挑釁行為是對
“開羅宣言”的違背和踐踏﹐是對二戰後世界秩序的公開蔑視。中美兩個對二戰勝
利作出過巨大貢獻的國家應當對日本右翼勢力的上昇保持高度警惕﹐防止日本軍國
主義的復活殃及亞洲和世界包括美國。玩火者必自焚。我們不應該輕易忘記珍珠港
事件留下的傷痛。
我們非常欣喜地看到台海兩岸關係持續地和平發展﹐這不僅對兩岸人民有利﹐也完
全符合美國的國家利益。我們呼籲美國政府不要對台售武﹐這只會鼓勵分裂主義﹐
增加台海的危機的可能性。
我們希望您能支持中國的最終和平統一﹐防止日本軍國主義的復活﹐促進中美兩國
的健康和友好關係的發展。您可以信賴和依托我們旅美華人﹐我們將一如既往地支
持您任期的工作。
